MEET OUR PARTNERS

Character Counts is the most widely implemented approach to character education and embraced by thousands of schools, communities, public agencies and nonprofits organizations across the country. Character Counts promotes the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship, and helps to develop and support Albuquerque communiities with training programs, special projects, materials and consulting.


VISION - Albuquerque is a community where all citizens personally embrace the principle that character counts.

MISSION - The mission of the Albuquerque Character Counts Coalition is to seek and support organizations which believe that character counts.

GOALS -

  • Support organizations that raise the consciousness, the commitment, and the competency of the entire community so that all citizens embrace the principle that character does, indeed, count.
  • Support organizations that involve Albuquerque youth and adults in the promotion of character in the public and private sectors of the community.
  • Work to integrate character education, including character-based decision- making, into new and existing community programs.
  • Encourage families, schools, businesses, youth and civic organizations, faith-based communities, and the government to adopt and model the Six Pillars of Character.
  • Form collaborative relationships with community organizations committed to Character Counts as a way of creating a safe and healthy community.
  • Encourage organizations to provide the human and financial resources necessary to establish these goals as a long-term commitment to Character Counts.
  • Demonstrate community leadership of Character Counts through the efforts of Leadership Council members who represent the entire community.
